Olive oil for rosacea

If a patient applies an ointment not prescribed by the doctor, he is exposed to an increased risk of adverse reactions. In this sense, it must be remembered that the fact that a product is prepared with “natural ingredients” does not mean that it will only provide benefits.

Among the most dangerous home remedies that have been recommended are green tea, apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil (also very popular as a remedy for acne).

According to the MSD Manual, “Treatment depends on the severity of the condition and includes topical metronidazole, oral and topical antibiotics, topical ivermectin, rarely isotretinoin, and, for severe rhinophyma, surgery.”

Other guidelines to keep in mind

In addition to the treatment prescribed by the doctor, the patient should try to maintain good skin care, as well as a set of good habits. This includes maintaining a balanced diet.

To avoid exacerbations there are those who consider that it is advisable to avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages, excessive use of condiments and, above all, the most spicy. It is also advisable to avoid fermented cheeses.

Measures for day to day

  • Always use sunscreen before leaving home.
  • If the doctor indicates it, take vitamin B complex supplements.
  • Use the appropriate products for your skin type, as directed by the dermatologist.
  • Do not rub or scratch the skin. And when it comes to drying it after washing, it is advisable to gently touch the towel, never wipe it directly, as it can cause discomfort.
