Is Burning Fat With Cold Drinks Possible?

Effortlessly burning fat is unlikely. People are constantly being bombarded by the media and social media with the need for bodily perfection, even though such perfection does not exist. Therefore, it must be clear that, when it comes to losing weight, it is necessary to improve your lifestyle and follow the doctor’s recommendations. 

Losing weight in a healthy way is possible, as long as this is carried out in the correct way; that is to say, eating a balanced diet, doing some daily exercise and maintaining other good habits of life. According to this study conducted by Humboldt University (Germany) and published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, drinking at least two glasses of cold water a day could speed up metabolism by up to 30%. This is because cold water allows you to burn more calories during the digestion process than warm or hot water.

Despite the evidence found in this study, there is still much to be investigated about the consumption of cold water to promote weight loss. Therefore, it must be considered that cold water, for now, is still another complement that can be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. This is not a solution that will provide benefits in short periods of time. 

However, it must be borne in mind that drinking cold water only complements a healthy lifestyle. It can never be a substitute for an endocrinologist’s diet, and extreme care must be taken with excessive intake of cold beverages. It could cause headaches, discomfort and irritation, so it is recommended to simply use fresh water, but not ice.

As this research from the Spanish Society of Basic and Applied Nutrition assures, it is advisable to drink 4 to 6 glasses of water a day to maintain good hydration. It is the most appropriate way to promote the proper functioning of all organs and systems. Of course, it is advisable to maintain a balanced diet and do at least one hour of moderate physical exercise every day.

Cold drinks to burn fat

Here are some cold drinks that you can easily prepare at home both to refresh yourself and to complement your meals or snacks in a healthy way.

1. Strawberry iced tea

Strawberries are common foods in many weight loss diets, as they contain fiber, antioxidants and little sugar. And it is worth remembering that daily fruit intake  favors cholesterol regulation and prevents inflammation.

To prepare this cold tea you just have to follow the steps detailed below:

Ingredients

  • 5 strawberries
  • 1 glass of water (250 ml).

Preparation

  • The well cleaned strawberries are passed through the blender.
  • Add the glass of water.
  • Once a homogeneous drink has been obtained, it is placed in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.
  • It can be drunk at any time, before or after food.

2. Iced yerba mate tea

3. Cold drink of pineapple and green tea

  • 2 slices of pineapple.
  • 1 green tea bag.

  • The two pineapple slices are blended together with half a glass of water.
  • Then, you have to mix the green tea with the pineapple juice. If desired, you can add a little honey.
  • This drink is taken to the refrigerator and stored for the desired time.

4. Blue tea, cinnamon and pepper drink

The mixture of watermelon and mint is tasty, healthy and very fresh. The amount of water that watermelon contains makes this drink a very hydrating alternative for the hottest hours. The mint, meanwhile, will give it a touch of flavor.

  • 2 slices of watermelon.
  • 1 cup of mint infusion.

  • First, the mint infusion is made.
  • Next, you have to blend the two watermelon slices. When the two parts are well mixed, that is, the watermelon juice and the mint infusion, take the drink to the refrigerator.

To lose weight, should I always drink cold drinks?

No. You don’t always have to drink cold beverages to lose weight (or keep it off). Therefore, you should not rely only on the temperature of the drink, but on the sum of the good habits of life that you maintain. By eating healthy, exercising daily and following your doctor’s instructions, you can lose (or maintain) your weight.
