Lime Sorbet

The lime sorbet is a very refreshing drink, cheap and very easy to prepare. You can feel its effects in just seconds, leaving an extraordinary sensation on the palate. Given its acid flavor, you will notice an extra freshness and energy.

With the arrival of hot days and vacations, we want to cool off as it may. Above all, we want the effect to be immediate. If you just get home from work, in addition to getting comfortable, you want to drink a delicious lime sorbet, then pay close attention to these delicious and very easy recipes.

Lime Sorbet Option # 1

Perfect for the whole family on any occasion. Do not miss this first recipe, very basic and simple. In 30 minutes, you’ll have this affordable, low-calorie sorbet ready.

Ingredients (for 6 servings)

  • A cup of lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • A cup of sugar
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of water

  • Grate the lime and add it to a saucepan along with the water and sugar. Cook for 10 minutes over low heat and let it cool to obtain a syrup.
  • Mix the two juices (lime and lemon) with the previous preparation and place in the freezer until solid (beat from time to time so that it does not freeze).
  • When the sorbet is semi solid, add the egg white beaten to stiffness.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and place back in the freezer until serving.

Lime Sorbet Option # 2

When you consume this sorbet you will feel that you are in the middle of a paradisiacal beach in the north of Brazil or in front of the Caribbean Sea. A refreshing and beautiful feeling, perfect as a pre-summer vacation!

What do you need?

  • The juice of 3 limes
  • The juice of 3 lemons
  • Zest from the zest of a lime
  • Zest of the zest of a lemon
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 400 grams of cold water (can be a cup of ice too)

    As elaborated?

    • The first thing is to squeeze the juices separately and grate the peels.
    • Then all the ingredients are put together in the blender.
    • Now you have two options to continue with this recipe, with or without a fridge.
      • With a fridge: Pour the sorbet into a jar and leave it in the freezer for a few minutes to give it a more solid texture (this will take a few hours).
      • Without a refrigerator: Use ice cubes instead of cold water, stir well and you will have a “frozen” style sorbet.

    Lime Sorbet Option # 3

    In this case we have a variation of the previous recipes because in addition to the lime we will add celery and basil. The result? Exquisite, of course! Surprise your friends when they come over to your house on Friday night or your significant other with an aperitif drink before dinner on Saturday.

    You need (for 6 servings):

    • 4 limes
    • 1 lemon
    • 1 cup of water
    • 150 grams of sugar
    • 6 whole celery sticks (with the leaves)
    • 1 handful of natural basil leaves
    • Pink peppercorns to taste
    • Lime slices for garnish

    How do you prepare:

    • In a saucepan, add the sugar, the lime zest and the water. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
    • Let it cool down.
    • Meanwhile, squeeze the limes and lemon. Mix with the syrup (the previous preparation) that should already be at room temperature.
    • Pour into an airtight container and place in the freezer for four hours, removing every half hour to prick with a stick, fork or knife. This will prevent chunks of ice from forming on the Lime Sorbet.
    • Take out of the freezer and distribute into glasses. Accompany with a branch of celery in each one and some whole basil leaves. Sprinkle with the grated pink pepper and garnish with lime wedges before serving. (Some in this step is when they add an alcoholic beverage such as vodka).

    Lime Sorbet Option # 4

    A very Caribbean version that has these ingredients:

    • The juice of two limes
    • 75 grams of sugar
    • 75 ml of water
    • 400 ml of coconut milk

    Step by Step:

    • Squeeze the juice from the limes and heat in a saucepan with the sugar and water until it forms a kind of syrup, let it cool.
    • Pour in the cold coconut milk and pour into a bowl.
    • Take to the freezer 1 hour, remove, click a little and put it back in, now 40 minutes, like this until you get the desired consistency.
